My little angel passed away aged 4 months. The day I let my baby girl go, was the worst day of my life. Cerys was born with a hole in her heart (atrioventricular septal defect) and was also born with down's syndrome. She was so beautiful and perfect, had the most beautiful smile and beautiful big blue eyes like her daddy. Cerys was taken to Yorkhill Hospital in Glasgow to have her precious little heart repaired, we werent aware of how serious it was. On the 7th Sep 09 we went to ward 5 and stayed in there till the 9th Sept, that was the day of the operation that should have only lasted upto 4 hours, I took Cerys to the wee room were she was put to sleep, I held her so tight telling her how much I loved her and I broke my heart as she went to sleep in my arms. A very long 15 hours later, Cerys's operation was over, my poor baby went into heart failure during her op but luckily my big brave girl pulled through, she was a very strong and brave girl, stronger than me. As I rushed to see her, my poor girl was hooked up to everythin, it was horrible, she was just lyin there lifeless as she was very heavily sedated as she was on ECMO to give her a little rest. I was so upset to see her lyin there like that. But as the weeks went on, she started to do so so well and she was starting to wake up, I finally got to hold her, feed, wash and change her, I didnt feel so useless anymore. But little did I know my angel started to get very sick again, just problem after problem. She had to get chest drains in both her sides, back on double strength drugs and also ended up on dialysis, Everything just started failing and I started giving up hope. On the 13th Oct we were told that things didnt look good and that Cerys might not make it through the nite, I didnt want to believe it, It didnt sink in one bit, I just wanted her to be ok, she didnt deserve this. So, that night I decided to get Cerys christened at her bed side, friends and family were there to say goodbye. Early hours of the 14th Oct I got cerys's hand and feet prints done and sat with her, just telling her how much everyone loved her and prayin she was going to pull through. Later on on the 14th Oct as most of the family arrived to be with Cerys, She was taken to a little side room in PICU it was such a blur, but I had to make the most difficult decision ive ever made and that was to take Cerys off life support, so the nurses handed her to me and I wrapped her up so tight in 2 of her favorite covers, and held her so close and cuddled her in and just kept telling her how much I loved her and I would never forget her, and she peacefully passed away in mummys arms with all the love in the world with her. Cerys Dawne Connor is my inspiration.. She has made me the proudest mummy in the world, such a strong and brave little princess.. Cerys was laid to rest on the 21st Oct 09.
Cerys is my gorgeous little angel and will never be forgotten.. The most amazin little girl ive ever known.. Mummy & Daddy love you beautiful angel R.I.P xxx
